Katie Gilly, MA, LMFT
She, Her, hers
Since childhood, Katie has found herself drawn to understanding people and the many variations of relationships. In college, she became the go-to person in the dorm to ask the hard questions that so many weren't taught growing up. Katie provided a space of acceptance and understanding as others explored relationship dynamics, gender, and sexuality.
After working at Chicago Lakeshore Hospital and a therapeutic residential school, Katie began to understand that an individual isn't the problem. Instead, it is the system they are part of that is causing the difficulties in their life, whether it be romantic relationships, family, work, or society. This realization led her to pursue a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Syracuse University. While attending Syracuse, Katie deepened her passion for helping others while building her understanding of people, relationship dynamics, gender, and cultural identity, as well as sex and sexuality.
As your therapist, Katie focuses on building a safe space that allows you to uncover your relationship needs and how to live more authentically. She shows up as her authentic self in sessions and uses humor to open individuals up to new ways of thinking and behaving. She believes that the more work the client does in between sessions determines the success they see with therapy. Each session is tailored to the needs of all clients. Katie utilizes a variety of modalities to provide a path of growth that will help meet therapeutic goals.
